ANTHONY LANE

Basketball has been my passion since the age of 7. My mother was my first basketball coach for my sister and me at the local recreation center in Wyandotte County. She raised us for the majority of our childhood as a single mother, with the help of our grandparents. So from a young age I saw & began to understand the grind and determination it takes to be great at what you love. Basketball for me was a chance to show my mother how grateful I was for her. I never had the chance to play AAU, but I always worked hard at the local rec or street park until I was able to begin playing in middle school. Needless to say, I outworked my peers in the weight room and on the court to become the best player I could. My efforts lead me to not only the playing at the Junior College level, but also traveling the world playing basketball in the Philippines and West Africa. Now that my window as an athlete has closed I find my sense of purpose in the ministry of Livin’ The Dream. Jesus called us to be set apart from the world. What sets LTD apart is the personal connections & fearlessness to put Jesus at the forefront of everything. Basketball is our tool of influence to impact the next generation. We encourage our athletes to not only carry the characteristics of Jesus, but to use God’s teachings to bring love, hope & healing to the hurt, lost, and least fortunate.
