BRUCE ADAMS

My name is Bruce Adams. I’ve experienced a lot of success on the basketball court, but I’ve had to endure some very challenging times off of it. Several years ago, my brother was murdered and after that, my life went into a dark tailspin. I struggled with trying to find my true identity. I thought my success as an athlete made me who I was. People knew me and admired me because of what I could do on the court.

That identity crisis followed me into my marriage and when things weren’t going the way I expected, I found other people and other ways to feel validated. I ended up losing my wife and kids due to some of the poor decisions I had made.

Then during the Summer of 2019, I was invited to participate in an LTD mission trip to the Dominican Republic. I tried over and over again to come up with excuses not to participate. I was lost, lonely and afraid, but something kept pushing me to go.

I am so glad that I did! My life was changed forever on that trip. The guys loved me, challenged me and lifted me up. I turned away from my previous ways, gave my heart to Jesus and got baptized. Since then, I’ve been growing in my love for Him and others daily. As I began to pursue Jesus, I also began to pursue my wife again. I eventually asked my wife and kids for their forgiveness. In February of 2020, my wife and I got remarried and our relationship with Jesus and each other is stronger than it ever was before.

I’m so thankful for how God has used LTD in my life. I now know that my identity is not in what I’ve done. My identity is rooted in Jesus and what He has done for me. God used LTD to capture MY heart and thousands of others around the world. I now have a healthy, vibrant family and I operate my own car-detailing business.

I’m thankful to God for placing LTD in my life.
